Learn How To Lose Weight By Eating 1 Pound Of Veggies Everyday

Are you eating 1 pound of raw vegetables every day?  Although my wife loves to eat veggies and probably eats more than a pound everyday I’ve always struggled with eating enough vegetables.  I’ve been challenging myself to eat more veggies each day and have come up with some simple strategies that can help you hit your veggie quota.how to lose weight

So why eat 1 pound of raw veggies each day?  I’m basing that number off one my mentors, Dr. Fuhrman’s, recommendations from his book “Eat To Live”.  My cardiologist recommended that I read this book after a periodic check up.  I’m glad he did because it had incredible insight into how the western diet is lacking big time in the nutrient category.  It also speaks to how to lose weight by eating more vegetables and less process foods.  In the book, Dr. Fuhrman recommends that you eat 1 pound of raw veggies and 1 pound of cooked veggies every day.  For me this was a daunting task!  In this post I’m just going to tackle the raw veggie portion.

Everyday we are inundated with food options that don’t offer the nutrients that our bodies need.  We bombarded with food that is overly processed and manufactured with the perfect portions of sweet and saltiness to keep us coming back for more.  Groceries stores lined with items that are processed with 7 syllable words that lack those critical nutrients and micronutrients are bodies crave.  Streets are lined with fast food resturants with menus that offer High Calorie Low Nutrient meals.  Bottom line is most food options out there are bad for you.
