Intermittent Fasting Plan To Lose Weight, Gain Energy & Moreintermittent fasting plan

#1) Intermittent fasting has been shown to melt visceral fat.  Visceral fat is that nasty, dangerous fat that surrounds your organs.  Studies have shown that excess visceral fat is linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease and even certain cancers.  If that is not enough reason visceral fat also creates inflammatory hormones.

So how do you know if you have too much visceral fat?  The most common signs are a protruding belly and large waist.

So now we know we need to get rid of visceral fat but how can intermittent fasting help?  Studies have shown that intermittent fasting can significantly reduce visceral fat.  Our internal organs are in a constant state of action.  Our bodies expend lots of energy digesting food and repairing muscles from our daily activities.  Intermittent fasting gives our organs a break so that they can go to work on repairing items they don’t normally have the time and energy to handle.  When we let our organs rest they will target that visceral fat and melt it away!

#2) Energy normally skyrockets on an intermittent fasting plan.  This seems odd since we are giving our bodies less fuel in the form of good.  So why would our energy levels improve?  There are 3 theories floating around but I can assure you that it works I’ve experienced it myself on several occasions and I’ve also led groups through a fasting program who have also stated that there energy skyrocketed.  Here are the 3 theories:

  1. Macronutrient theory, i.e. the change in ratio of fats, carbs and proteins metabolized as energy
  2. Thermogenic Work theory, i.e. the reduction in energy exhausted to digest and metabolize intermittent fasting planfoods
  3. Metabolic Efficiency and Fitness theory, i.e. the increased ability of the body to use energy for work

#3) Most people experience significant weight loss during an intermittent fast.  As of the writing of this post I’ve helped over 70 people complete a 9 day program.  In this program you will fast for 4 of the 9 days with 2 consecutive days with healthy eating days on the other 5.  This program has worked for all types of people, fit, overwieight, athletic, muscular and all experienced similar results.  To learn more about this program MESSAGE ME HERE.  In fact, one study showed intermittent fasting was found to reduce body weight by 3-8% over a period of 3-24 weeks.  If its your first time trying an intermittent fast I would suggest getting coached by someone who has successfully completed a fast.  Its great to have extra encouragement and support during the fast.  In my experience, intermittent is like a muscle the more your do it the easier it gets.

IMPORTANT ~ There are some important things to know before you incorporate intermittent fasting into your lifestyle!

Don’t Do A Intermittent Fasting Plan For More Than 48 Hours – If fasting goes on for more than two days, your body stops receiving benefits and instead experiences negative effects. During both stage one and stage two (the postabsorptive and fasting stages), the body uses stored nutrients and energy to support normal metabolism. However, when fasting goes beyond day two, your body puts on the brakes, slowing your metabolism to a crawl.  Some studies have also shown that you should not fast for more than 4 days in a calendar month.

Should you intermittent fast for the rest of your life?  Initially incorporating intermittent fasting into your life can seem intimidating and hard.  The reality is that it gets way easier the more you do it.  It also allows you to splurge a little more on normal days and still be able to reset your body to a very healthy state.  There are different strategies I recommend.  The first is a Monday Cleanse Day Routine where you fast every Monday.  The other is the 9 day program that I mentioned above.  Both are extremely effective.

Who can benefit from an intermittent fasting plan?  Anyone that is looking to lose weight and/or gain energy will benefit from intermittent fasting.  Even if you are at your goal weight intermittent fasting will repair your body and boost your energy.
